Frequently Asked Questions

Specifically about our musical classes

What Moo Music class would be best for my little one?

Baby Moo is designed to be a calmer shorter class specifically for babies from birth until they actively Moove. With Baby Moo you will be sat down for most of the session helping and encouraging your little moover to do a range of actions, play with instruments, having a lovely snuggle, and playing with sensory-based props.

Mini Moo is designed to be a shorter session specifically for babies on the moove until they are confidently walking. With Mini Moo you will be sat down for some of the session helping and encouraging your little moover to do a range of actions, play with instruments, and mooving about for the rest allowing your little one time to explore.

Mixed Moo is designed for all ages, with movements and props covering the full age range. By nature, it is more active than Baby Moo but smaller babies gain so much from the older ones and everyone joining in. Whereas with Baby Moo you might be sat down for some of the session, mixed involves dancing around the room, playing with musical instruments, and playing games with adaptations to enable all ages to take part.

Do you offer trial sessions?

Yes, we offer three trial sessions for £15. We offer three sessions as this gives you and your little moover a chance to settle in and see if you both enjoy the sessions. We suggest that by session three you will have a firm idea of what Moo Music is about and how the sessions are run.

Is Moo Music a block course or can we keep coming once we have started?

Your attendance does not have a defined end date, it is up to you, we hope you never wish to stop coming. To support this on sessions, those that block book have priority for spaces for the next block, however, to enable the spaces to be secured payments will need to be made by a set date which you will be notified and reminded of.

When can I start to bring my newborn along to Baby Moo or Mooborn Moo?

When you feel ready. We have had babies around 6 weeks start and by the time they are 12 weeks they smile straight away at Maggie Moo, recognising her and the music.

Do you repeat session plans?

The same plan is not used for two weeks running.

Are children with disabilities welcome and able to join your session?

Yes of course, Moo Music is an inclusive group and we welcome all children with disabilities and special educational needs. Whilst we do our best to meet these needs, we ask that you let us know before the session so any adaptations can be made.

I have twins can I come along by myself?

Yes as long as you feel comfortable. We have no issues or concerns with you coming by yourself or bringing an extra pair of hands.

How old does my baby have to be to join Mooborn Massage?

The minimum age is 6 weeks at their first session and we recommend they are under 12 months (if they were premature this is based on their adjusted age).

Are children with disabilities welcome and able to join your session?

Yes, of course, we are an inclusive group and we welcome all children with disabilities and special educational needs. Whilst we do our best to meet these needs, we ask that you let us know before the session so any adaptations can be made. We also ask that you check with the relevant medical specialist to see whether there are any adaptations to massage strokes or routines to be avoided.

What do I need to bring to the first Massage session?
Please have a clean nappy and wipes to session with you. Massage oil and a towel will be provided, however, if your child has a skin condition you can use a prescribed cream from your doctor.

What if my child is poorly?
Massage should not be carried out if a baby is poorly as it can make symptoms worse and raise body temperature. Don’t worry about missing a session, we will recap the massage in each session.

What if my child has their injections close to the Massage or Reflexology class?
Massage should not be carried out after your baby has received their injections, please wait 24 hours after injections to massage your baby. If you still want to come to class we suggest watching the teacher or bringing a teddy or doll with you to practice on.

What if my baby needs a feed during the Massage session?
Babies shouldn't be massaged directly after a feed so please make sure your baby has been fed before arriving for their massage session. Massage will send the blood supply away from their digestive system and to the area being massaged, preventing them from properly digesting their feed. If you need to feed your baby during class, please carry on watching the demonstration, lie your baby down when settled and we can provide a doll for you to continue with.

What if my baby cries during the session?
Sometimes babies are a little unsettled by the feel of fresh air on their skin, new surroundings, and new expectations. However, they quickly learn to accept new challenges if we offer them appropriate containment. If your baby is unsettled pick them up in the towel, offer kisses cuddles, etc. then when you have settled them try again. The training room is very different from your home environment; therefore we recognise that not all babies enjoy their massage as much as they do in their own home.

If your baby is unsettled by the massage environment do not worry as we can provide a doll for you to practice on, you can then carry out the massage you have learned in the comfort of your own home. Massage classes are an environment where you can talk to other parents swap tips and share concerns.

I have twins can I come along by myself to massage?

Yes as long as you feel comfortable. We have no issues or concerns with you coming by yourself or bringing an extra pair of hands. We offer a Twin Discounted Ticket for all our Massage, Reflexology and Yoga classes to reflect the fact your time is split between two children.

Questions about Yoga Moo

What is involved with Baby Yoga Moo?

Our baby yoga uses gentle stretches and yoga-inspired movements for a parent to do with their baby. It incorporates over-clothes massage, breathing techniques, songs, rhymes, and sensory play.  Our baby yoga class delivers holistic support to the baby's overall development and wellbeing.  Baby yoga is an ancient tradition in many cultures throughout the world, which is being re-discovered in the Western world. Research shows that loving, nurturing contact between caregiver and infant has a positive impact on their development.

 Do I need Yoga Experience?

No experience is necessary to share yoga and its benefits with your baby.

At what age can babies join Yoga Moo?

For our course, we recommend that babies are at least 16 weeks old up until they are cruising. At 16 weeks they are more confidently holding and supporting their head. However, from 12 weeks you can join our Baby Moo Massage and Stretch course.
